FORGET GOLF, FORGET DARTS AND FORGET THE PUB… …WHITE COLLAR BOXING HAS ARRIVED.
In this section we will cover what Ultimate Boxing has to offer the person who wants to experience the noble art of boxing on a more competitive basis.
Can you imagine what it would be like to stand in the boxing ring with just two other people in that ring. A referee and your opponent. Seconds before the first bell sounds, the moment of truth. The hard work in the gym and on the road all done. A true test of a your spirit, courage, determination and heart about to take place.
A crowd that includes your family, friends and work colleagues watches on in anticipation. They clap, whistle and roar your name as the bell goes and into battle you go, your adrenaline pumping.
Ask any boxer amateur or professional, novice or champion what this feeling is like and he or she will tell you. It is the most exciting, exhilarating feeling. A fantastic, unique experience that you will never forget.
The trouble with normal amateur boxing is that there is an age limit of 34 years old for competition. Professional boxing obviously requires a very high level of skill and experience and without an accomplished amateur career behind you remains pretty much out of the question.
So what if you’re a person who discovers boxing a little bit late, (anyone looking to start training for competition in amateur boxing much past the age of about 25 would be considered a very late starter with limited chances of real success) but you still have the desire and determination to train hard enough to compete?
Why should you miss out on a chance to experience this amazing phenomenon which is an organized boxing bout?
The answer to that question is, you don’t.
There is a new type of boxing that has recently hit theses shores. This new type of boxing is called ‘White Collar Boxing’ and it has been thriving in the U.S.A for over a decade now.
Why is it called White Collar Boxing? Let me tell you a short story about how this all started and the answer will become clear.
One of the oldest most famous boxing gyms in America is Gleasons Gym, New York City. The story has it that some years ago two Wall Street business types who both fancied themselves as fighters had a bet on who would be still standing if they went three rounds in the ring at the local boxing gym. They employed trainers and set about preparing for this showdown. The best part of six months later they finally got it on at Gleasons in front of a big crowd of colleagues and friends. As it turned out neither had particularly much in the way of pugilistic skills so they both walked away unscathed and with pride intact.
The word spread about these two men that wore suits by day and fought by night, and so, White Collar Boxing was born. It caught on and soon Gleasons had a queue of white collar warriors stretching back to Brooklyn Bridge all wanting a taste of the action.
White Collar Boxing has been brought to the U.K by Alan Lacey of ‘The real Fight Club, London. The real Fight Club so far have pioneered White Collar Boxing in the U.K holding monthly events at York Hall, Bethnal Green, London – the spiritual home of boxing in England, where many great champions have boxed over the years.
The contestants, many of whom run leading companys, undergo rigorous training and participate in refereed bouts of three, two minute rounds. 16 ounce gloves, head guards, mouth guards and groin protectors are used for these bouts which are generally non decision so both return to the office the next day to a hero’s welcome, without humiliation.
Anyone who steps into the ring in the first place is most certainly a ‘winner’. Could this winner be you? Could it be you stepping through the ropes at York Hall where so many champions, the likes of Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn and Lennox Lewis have done before? We Shall see!
It’s possible. We are in contact with The Real Fight Club and we can make it happen. It’s up to you to take the first step to White Collar Glory. See Contact
There are some bouts with The Real Fight Club that do have a decision. These ‘Championship’ bouts come in time, when the right competitors are selected and ready.
Competitors at any future Ultimate Boxing White Collar shows in Lowestoft will have the opportunity to choose if their bout will be competitive or non-decision.
Also, as far as Ultimate Boxing is concerned this is not available only to White Collar Workers. You are welcome to train, spar and hopefully compete no matter what your background.
White Collar workers, Blue Collar workers, bank manager or builder, student or unemployed – ALL are welcome.
AND THERE IS NO AGE LIMIT!
Looking at the other end of the scale, if you are between 10 and, say, 25 years old, it may be that you could have a future in the standard amateur boxing ranks. If this is the case we can get you started, get you fit and give you a great stepping stone and introduction to the amateur boxing club which competes all over the country through the Amateur Boxing Association.
COME AND GIVE US A LOOK AND WE’LL
TAKE IT FROM THERE.
