Ultimate Boxing has been created because we believe there are two types of people that would benefit from boxing training.
One type is the person that wants to train purely for health and fitness reasons. We will talk about what Ultimate Boxing has to offer this type of person here in this section.
The other type is the person that has aspirations to actually box on a competitive basis. This type should include beginners and experienced boxers alike. We will cover what Ultimate Boxing has to offer this type of person in the ‘White Collar Boxing’ section.
One of the many advantages with this boxing club is that we promote a very easy going, friendly atmosphere for the total beginner to walk into.
There are huge gains to be made in terms of health and fitness with this type of training, but it has up to now been a very difficult environment to get into unless you know somebody involved in a club who can get you started.
It is a fact that in general, amateur or professional boxing clubs are there mainly for boxers that are looking to, or are already competing.
Here, we encourage people who want to train only for health and fitness. Sometimes people start out with this in mind, but as they progress with fitness and skill level they become more interested in competitive boxing.
It’s always left to each individual to decide for himself or herself how far they wish to take things. There is never any peer pressure.
When you come for your first training session with us we’ll have a friendly chat with you and find out what you have or haven’t done in the past in terms of sport. Then, we’ll get a rough idea of what your aspirations are and which side of the training you’re more interested in.
You will be coached right from the start to pick up as many boxing skills as you can and improve your fitness and stamina levels. This coaching will be ongoing. You will get one to one coaching each and every time you attend the gym. There are no superstars or favourites here, we pay attention to everyone no matter what level of fitness or experience.
Here is a list of some of the types of exercises that we include: (Oh, and don’t worry, you don’t have to do all these every time!)
Warm up exercises, stretching exercises, jogging, skipping, shadow boxing, punch bags, one to one focus mitt training, circuit training, interval training, resistance training, speed ball workouts, floor to ceiling ball workouts, sparring, footwork, ring craft, running, sprinting, relay sprints, steps, hill sprints, abdominal exercises, medicine ball workouts, warm down exercises, ground work and much more.
Please be quite clear that you will not be pressured into doing more than you are capable of doing or more than you WANT to do. You will be here to get fit and to enjoy yourself at the same time. It’s not the army and it’s not boot camp! (Unless of course you want it to be.)
If you want to be pushed to get super fit we’ll motivate you to do so.
If you want to steadily improve your health and fitness at your own pace that’s also fine.
Whilst the training is taking place your safety and well being are paramount. A coach who has been trained in first aid by St. Johns Ambulance and holds an up to date certificate supervises everything.
Here is a list of some of the health and fitness benefits to be gained from boxing training:
Unlimited fitness levels, stamina, strength, endurance, speed, coordination, flexibility, longevity, positivity, honesty, concentration, focus, immunity to illness, less injury prone, injury rehabilitation, weight loss, weight gain (lean muscle mass), skills, dextrousness, balance, stress relief, self defence, bravery.
It’s amazing how these health and fitness benefits carry through to every day life at home and at work.
Let’s face it, we could all achieve more if we gained some or all of the above listed factors.
So, if you simply want a healthier lifestyle you’ve come to the right place.
Always remember, at Ultimate Boxing you don’t have to step up into the ring and punch anyone, or be punched yourself unless that’s what YOU WANT to do.
You are welcome to come and train with us for as long as you like just for the sheer buzz of being in the boxing gym. If you only ever want to go as far as hitting the heavy bags or the coaches punch mitts, that’s fine.
Ultimately, it’s still boxing.
